American Melody- Riverboat Cruise Ship
The American Melody Riverboat Cruise ship made its way through our area Tuesday July 9th.
I have been tracking this ship for 2 days or so, my friend Steve Griggs had given me a heads up when this ship was at port in Maysville on the 8th. I knew I needed to get some shots of this vessel and got the alert early in the morning that it had left port and was heading our way. Luckily weather was in my favor and I did not have lots of sunlight to contend with.
The American Melody is a large Riverboat cruise ship that was built to specifically traverse the Mississippi River. The ship is 100 meters long and 17 meters wide. It has 91 rooms and can hold 180 guests. It offers panoramic views and 5 decks in total. It has a fitness center, lounge areas and you can also visit the Ellipse Café.
Amazingly the American Melody passed a local barge right in front of me. That barge was the Eva Kelly and it was pushing a rather large load at that time. It gives some interesting size comparisons between these two ships though.
